Things to Do

Hiking, Climbing, Mountain Biking, Fishing, Rafting

There are so many great hiking, climbing, and biking options in the Roaring Fork Valley. Below are a few of our favourites.

Hiking

Mushroom Rock

Going up to Mushroom Rock is a must. The Red Hill trail network is beautiful, and we have a sneaky little trailhead that leaves right from our property (the wedding site). It is about a 20-30 minute hike from the House and has a fantastic view.

Thomas Lakes

This is a longer out-and-back hike to the lakes at the base of Mt. Sopris (the monolith above Carbondale). It takes 3-4 hours but is not too strenuous.

Capitol Lake

Even one third of the way to Captiol Lake you start to get incredible views of Capitol Peak. This is the hike to do if you want a view with a serious wow-factor. Also not too strenuous, out-and-back. You will need a car with at least moderate clearance to get to the trailhead.

Climbing

If you are a visiting climber you probably already know this but:

- Rifle

- Thompson Creek

- Main Elk

- The Black Canyon of the Gunnison, if you're rad.

If you need beta, let us know.

Mountain Biking

If you like Mountain Biking, you've come to the right place. Rent or borrow a mountain bike and go check out some world class trails.

- Prince Creek Trails

- Glassier / Buckhorn

- Snowmass

Fly Fishing / Rafting

Lots of options around Carbondale!

Hot Springs

This area is known for its hot springs and there are many options to choose from:

Penny Hot Springs (AKA the hippy dip) - natural hot springs next to the Crystal River.

Avalanche Ranch - a small collection of pools. This is one of our favourites but it books up quick!

Iron Mountain Hot Springs - lots of small pools of different temperatures.

Glenwood Hot Springs - a few large pools and a cold plunge.

Mountain Fair

A Carbondale establishment, the Village Smithy is a great stop for a hearty breakfast.

Felipe's favourite pizza in the world.
